WALKING TOURS

The Seoul City Walking Tours are planned and sponsored by the Seoul City government and each tour takes place on foot accompanied by a trained guide speaking English or Japanese. There are 3 main courses, but each course has two subdivisions- so in reality there are 6 courses to select from. Tours are free of charge aside from admission to each site visited. Tours must be requested by e-mail at least 3 days in advance, and additional information about the courses (tour times, where to meet) will be e-mailed after you put in a request.

Gyeongbokgung & Insadong
Course 1 : 4.3km, 4 hours required (does not include time spent at each stop)
• Gyeongbokgung Palace - Insadong (Minikdu House, Gyeongin Art Gallery, etc)
Gyeongbokgung Palace
Gyeongbokgung is the main palace of the Joseon era, constructed in 1395. Located inside the palace is the National Folk Museum and National Museum of Korea.
Insadong
Insadong is one of the few traditional streets which remain in ultra modernized Seoul. Within its streets, art galleries, antique stores, traditional craftsmen, teahouses, traditional restaurants, and cafes lie hidden.
Minikdu House
A modified traditional Korean home constructed by the pioneer of Korea's recent architect, Gil-Yong Park (18981943), it is an accurate representation of Korea's transition from the traditional to the modern, more westernized form that it takes now.
Gyeongin Art Gallery
The Gyeongin Art Gallery stands at the center of Seoul's Insadong. There are 3 separate exhibit total as well as an outdoor exhibit, and outdoor stage and screen, as well as a traditional teahouse.

Gyeongbokgung Palace

Samcheongdong Road
The road stretching from Gyeongbokgung Palace to Samcheong Park. The street is lined by old gingko trees and famous art galleries.
Cheongwadae's (Blue House) Front Road
The road by the front gates of the Cheongwadae, where the president of Korea resides and carries out his duties. The beautify of the cherry blossoms here are renowned in spring.
Hyojadong Sarangbang
Originally used as the office of the president's secretary, the building is now used to display gifts received by Korean presidents from leaders of other nations.
